Big Ten road game tickets harder to come by

Husker football tickets are among the hottest in the world of college football, but Husker fans might have a challenge getting tickets to see Nebraska play on the road in the Big Ten Conference this season.
The University of Nebraska athletic department said that requests for tickets to see the Huskers play on the road in the conference have far outpaced demand. The Huskers have road games this year at Wisconsin on Oct. 1, Minnesota on Oct. 22, Penn State on Nov. 12 and Michigan on Nov. 19.
"Demand is at an all-time high," athletic director Tom Osborne told the Omaha World-Herald recently.
The Big Ten requires schools to make 3,000 football tickets available to visiting teams. This is fewer than the 3,850 required by the Big 12 Conference.

Running back cleared to play for Huskers

Fans with Husker football tickets got some good news recently, as the Omaha World-Herald reported that running back Braylon Heard has enrolled at Nebraska.
Heard signed a letter of intent to play for the Huskers in February of 2010, but did not meet the NCAA's initial eligibility requirements.
Although he is not officially listed on the roster, a UNL official confirmed that Heard has enrolled at the school and is expected to take part in the Huskers' summer conditioning program, which begins in early June.
Heard's arrival will be welcome news to Husker fans, who were nervous about the lack of depth at the running back spot heading into the 2011 season.

Nebraska to battle three conference foes on TV

Nebraska football tickets will be a hot item this coming season, especially with the Huskers facing three Big Ten Conference foes on TV this fall.
The Big Ten announced some of its key games that will be broadcast on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2 this season, and the Huskers' first two conference games will be played under the lights on national television.
On Saturday, Oct. 1, the Huskers kick off conference play on the road against Wisconsin, making the trip to the home of the Badgers for the first time since 1974, when they lost a 21-20 heartbreaker.
The following Saturday, Oct. 8, Ohio State makes its first-ever voyage into Lincoln to meet the mighty Huskers, as the defending conference co-champion Buckeyes will meet Nebraska in Memorial Stadium. This will be the first meeting of the two powerhouse programs since 1956.
One other conference game has already been guaranteed for TV for Nebraska, as their Nov. 25 season finale against Iowa at Memorial Stadium will be on TV. A time and network have yet to be determined.

Stadium expansion to get early start

If you have Husker football tickets for the 2011 season, get ready to walk around some construction zones.
Work is getting started this month on the new East Stadium project, which should bring capacity of Memorial Stadium to well over 90,000, making it one of the 10 biggest stadiums in all of college football.
Husker fans will still be able to access their seats while construction takes place, as a third deck of seats, more club seating and improvements on the east side of the stadium will be made in time for the start of the 2013 season.
Originally, plans for the $63.5 million expansion project was going to start in June, but school officials determined that they could save more than $365,000 by ramping up construction a month earlier. That way, they can get an extra six weeks worth of work completed before the Huskers open the 2011 season at home Saturday, Sept. 3 against Tennessee-Chattanooga.
The additional seating will give more Husker fans a chance to enjoy their favorite team as they take on some of the top teams in the country, as well as the best the Big Ten Conference has to offer.
